Thank you so much to the amazing Andy Nagy for featuring so much of Gary's work from throughout the years (which, in addition to Mad Martins, included solo recordings and with his band The Whisky Priests) in such esteemed company on the latest edition of his wonderful 'Black Jack Davy' show for WBRS 100.1FM last night.
The show featured as many as four tracks from the Mad Martins 3CD set and here's what Andy had to say about it : -
"What stories, and what storytelling, song writing! This is truly a masterpiece, up there in my initial reactions with Peter Bellamy's "Transports", Fairport's "Babacomb Lee", and Robb Johnson's "Gentle Men", three of the most extraordinary 'folk operas' ever written. Now there are four."
Wow! Thanks Andy - what a fabulous and generous quote!

A year ago today, the Mad Martins stage show premiered at The City Theatre, Durham.
Since then, and throughout the COVID Lockdown, Mad Martins has been undergoing a temporary hiatus to allow Gary (Mad Martins Musical Director) to focus his energies on other projects. He is currently writing his autobiography and developing a new band project 'Gary's Miller's Big Picture', amongst other things, with plans to release two new albums (one solo, one band) in 2021.
In the meantime, Mad Martins has not been forgotten and will return when the time seems right, with future shows and other developments to look forward to.
Watch this space!...
